General Modifier Review
An At-Home Self Study Training Program
The “General Modifier Review” is an at-home self study training program.
It has been developed to allow the participant to review their knowledge of CPT modifiers
and to practice effective application of modifiers.
Upon completion of this program, the participant will have a greater understanding of:
- The Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System and related modifiers.
- Associated CPT code sections for each modifier.
- How modifiers relate to reimbursement.
- How modifiers relate to compliance.
- How modifiers affect the global surgery package.
- Appropriate ranking of modifiers.
- Reporting requirements for each individual modifier.
- Documentation requirements for each individual modifier.
- Reimbursement issues related to modifiers.
- Examples of appropriate use of individual modifiers.
Information has been provided in each of the areas listed above which will assist the participant in reviewing the principles associated with effective modifier assignment.
At the end of the self-study program, there are a total of 70 questions the participant is required to answer using the answer sheet provided. The completed answer sheet should be returned to MedOffice Resources. The answer sheet will be graded and returned to the participant. Participants receiving a grade of 70 or more will have successfully passed this at-home self study program and will receive a certificate of completion.

Medical Terminology Review
MedOffice Resources now offers a great way to earn 6.0 CEU’s at home, while reviewing, refreshing and improving your medical terminology skill set. This course requires no reading or preparation. The course requires the coder to use their knowledge, skills and resources to complete a 200-question medical terminology exam. The exam is broken down as follows:
- Part 1 Words Parts (30 Questions)
- Part 2 Body Structure (30 Questions)
- Part 3 Conditions (30 Questions)
- Part 4 Procedures (30 Questions)
- Part 5 Acronyms (30 Questions)
- Part 7 Word Bank (20 Questions)
- The exam must be completed and returned within 14 days from date test sent. Return exam to: MedOffice Resources, PO Box 372, Greene, NY 13778.
- The exam will be graded on the entire 200 questions. All questions must be answered and each question is worth ½ point. The examinee must receive a score of at least 70 to receive the CEUs awarded.
- If the examinee does not pass the exam, a 2nd exam will be sent at no extra fee and examinee will have a 2nd opportunity to retake the exam. Previous exam errors will not be disclosed.
- If the examinee does not pass the 2nd exam, there will be no opportunity for an additional re-take and no CEUs will be awarded.
- Examinees are encouraged to use dictionaries, acronym books and all other resources to assist in selection of the appropriate answer.
- Exam results will be mailed to the examinee within 14 days from receipt of completed examination.
- Exams are copyrighted and may not be copied, shared or duplicated.

“Evaluation and Management Coding Overview - The Basics”
An at-home self study training program that has been developed to allow the participant to review their knowledge of the Evaluation and Management (E/M) section of the CPT manual.
Upon completion of this program, the participant will have a greater understanding of:
- CMS’ definition of “evaluation” and “management”.
- The characteristics of E/M codes.
- The terminology related to E/M codes.
- The categories of E/M codes available in the CPT manual.
- How E/M coding relates to reimbursement.
- The reasons providers frequently undercode.
- How E/M coding relates to compliance.
- How medical necessity relates to E/M coding.
- The ICD-9 coding guidelines for E/M services.
- How the appropriate level of E/M service should be selected.
- The documentation requirements for E/M services.
- The modifiers which are appropriate for use with E/M services.
Information has been provided in each of the subject matters listed above which will assist the participant in reviewing the principles associated with the E/M codes. Additionally, references have been made to guidelines provided in the CPT manual, and various internet sites that can be used as reliable references when working with E/M codes.
Throughout the self-study program, there are a total of 80 questions the participant is required to answer using the answer sheet provided. When completed, only the completed answer sheet should be returned to MedOffice Resources. The answer sheet will be graded and returned to the participant. Participants receiving a grade of 70% or more will have successfully passed this at-home self study program.
